New Age Music.

New age music brings to mind images of meditation, yoga and other forms of spiritual enlightenment and relaxation. Some forms of new age music are in fact created just for the purpose of playing in the background while one meditates or practices disciplines such as yoga. That is just one type of music though. There are different forms and different sounds of new age music. What they have in common is the shared objective of provide some form of uplifting and/or relaxing musical experience. Though most new age music doesn’t seem to have commercialism as the primary motivation, there have been some successful new age artists. The music of Enya has been in many movies and is commonly found on radio stations as well. Enya is one of the very few new age artists who have been recognized outside of the new age realm.
