Comedy and Humor

Comedy and Humor,

Everyone likes to laugh. Comedy as entertainments comes in many forms and styles. In the early days of television and the movies, artists such as Charlie Chaplin were among the most popular comedic performers. The movies of the Marx Brothers made them legends of comedy. Later as television became a part of the culture comedians such as Jack Benny and Milton Berle were among the most popular. Variety shows such as Your Show of Shows, starring Sid Caesar were very popular and they led to later shows such as the classic Saturday Night Live. Television comedies sometimes dealt with subject matter that was surprising. The classic comedy Mash and the silly but funny Hogan’s Heroes are examples of this. From I Love Lucy, to Mary Tyler Moore, to Seinfeld, to The Simpsons, television has produced some of the most diverse programs that made us laugh. Movies ranging from Some Like it Hot, to Dr. Strangelove, to Animal House, to My Cousin Vinny, to Superbad and many others, show the versatility of the comedy form.
